This landmark prestige residential project features and showcases the stonework and landscaping of DBLS. Designed by leading architect Rob Brown of award-winning firm Casey Brown Architecture, the residence’s headland position with uninterrupted north-facing ocean views relied heavily on the stone hand-cut by DBLS to ‘anchor’ it to the cliff-top, thereby creating a seamlessness between the natural environment and the building itself. 8 major sandstone lintels – each weighing more than one tonne – were inserted into the structure by crane. A rocky outcrop along the line of the copper roof is another design feature that sets the house as a landmark property for the area. The landscape works including paths and retaining walls and a protected courtyard were carefully constructed by DBLS around an existing, large frangipani tree. Wall niches for ambient lighting and sawn gateways completed the external landscaping works.
